25th Annual Holiday Stroll
December 1-2, 2017

The Holiday Stroll has been a tradition in Skowhegan for a quarter of a century. It starts with a holiday parade Friday evening and continues Saturday morning and afternoon with a host of free activities and treats throughout and near downtown, including pictures with Santa and the popular elf scavenger hunt!

Friday

The Strand Movie Pass Sale
9 a.m.-4 p.m., the Strand Cinema, Court St.

Soup for Sale

The Maine Meal will be selling soup while supplies last.

Lights to Remember
5:30 p.m., Federated Church, Island Ave.
This annual remembrance ceremony will feature a reading of names and lighting of candles. Sponsored by Hospice Volunteers of Somerset County.

Holiday Parade
7 p.m., downtown
Starts at the Skowhegan Savings parking lot on Elm St., travels down Madison Avenue and Water Street, and ends past Redington Memorial Home. Mike Walker, Skowhegan Area High School teacher, will be this year’s announcer.

Hot Cocoa and Coffee
7 p.m., Skowhegan Masonic Lodge, Water St.
During the parade the Masonic Lodge will be giving out hot cocoa and coffee (donations accepted).

Saturday

Breakfast and Photos with Santa
Ornament Making with Skowhegan Area Middle School Student Council
8-10 a.m., Tewksbury Hall, behind the Federated Church, Island Ave.
Eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes will be served. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children 10 and older, free for children under 10.

Unveiling of Mural by Rama Brown
Noon, Behind River Roads Artisans Gallery, Water St.
Don’t miss the official unveiling of local artist Rama Brown’s lovely mural titled River of Dreams, which she says is “a token of good luck for Skowhegan.” Brown notes that the salmon and old gear in the mural reflect on a time of abundance and that the mural also “illustrates the key to Skowhegan within the river.”

Parents’ Night Out

Looking for a night out without the kids? The Skowhegan Federated Church Sunday School is hosting a group babysitting session to give you a break. Pizza, drinks, movies, games, and crafts provided! Cost is $20 per child. Children must be potty trained. Space is limited, and reservations are required. For reservations contact Darcy at 207-474-2776.
