Program update – May 28, 2020

Though we initially planned to reconvene in-person programs for June, in order to ensure YOUR safety and the safety of our coaches, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone in-person activities until July. Thank you for bearing with us as we navigate these difficult times.

We are excited to rollout our summer calendar over the next few weeks! It will include local hiking adventures, paddling excursions, mountain bike rides, and more! New this year, we’ll also be leading multi-day trips to Maine destinations—and we hope you’ll plan to join in on the fun! We can’t wait to share our plans with you!

In the meantime, please like and follow the Skowhegan AmeriCorps Outdoor Recreation Program Facebook Page for the latest updates and access to all digital content, including a camp cooking video series (coming soon!), nature meditation videos, a virtual outdoor-themed book club, fitness challenges, tutorial videos (like how to stand-up paddleboard), and Animal Pen Pals!

Downtown Lunch Walk

Walking Bridge

Join us for a walk during your lunch break. Meet behind MThai at the end of the walking bridge and walk with us along the river down the Debe Trail and back (total trip 1 mile). You’ll get some fresh air and meet new people. All ages and abilities welcome. 

Nature Hike

This hike is for all ages so bring the whole family! While we walk through the Philbrick Trails, we’ll provide information about different plants and Leave No Trace Hiking Principles. Meet behind MThai at the end of the walking bridge. Total hike will be about 1 mile. Please come prepared with bug spray and sneakers.

Join us for a walk during your lunch break. You’ll get some fresh air and meet new people. All ages and abilities welcome. Meet behind MThai at the end of the walking bridge.

Family Scavenger Hunt

Join us on this family nature scavenger hunt. Bring your children to discover the natural world around them! This event is for children of all ages with a parent or guardian. The scavenger hunt will take place along the Debe River Walk and the Philbrick trails. Meet at the walking bridge behind M Thai.

AM Yoga

Start your week off right! Reduce your Monday workday stress with this guided morning yoga session. Yoga will last for about 30 minutes, in Coburn Park Don’t forget your mat!

Evening Trail Run

Meet us at the end of the walking bridge behind M. Thai for a run down the Debe River Walk and into the Philbrick Trails. Round trip will be about 2.5 miles. Bring some water!

Farmer’s Market Run

Maine Grains 42 Court Street, Skowhegan, ME

Join us every Saturday in front of The Miller's Table at Maine Grains for a run. All ages and experience levels are welcome. The run will be approximately 3 miles. We will run to the Heselton Street trails and back. Make sure to check out the Skowhegan Farmers' Market when we return!
