A Perfect Day in Skowhegan: Riley

Coburn Park, Skowhegan, Maine

Skowhegan is the perfect place to spend a day exploring. Our quaint town is full of rich heritage, local flavors, and scenic beauty. I love wandering downtown and taking in everything it has to offer. My ideal day in Skowhegan looks something like this:

Morning Coffee

Every morning begins with coffee, of course. Some days it’s a bagel and cortado at Joe’s Flat Iron Café; other days it’s a scone and coffee from The Bankery & Skowhegan Fleuriste. Both are excellent choices, and the hardest part is deciding between them.

A Walk Along the River

With coffee in hand, I head to the walking bridge that leads to the River Walk. The gentle sounds of the Kennebec River and the surrounding nature make for a peaceful start to the day.

Relaxing at Coburn Park

Next, I stop at Coburn Park to finish my coffee. Sitting by the pond, surrounded by trees and flowers, is the perfect way to appreciate the natural beauty of the area.

Lunch at the Miller’s Table

Lunch is best at The Miller’s Table at Maine Grains. Their stone-fired pizzas, made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, offer a truly special farm-to-table experience. The Greenhouse Pizza is my personal favorite!

Exploring Skowhegan’s Past

To get a sense of Skowhegan’s heritage, I often visit the Skowhegan History House or stop by the Skowhegan Free Public Library. Both offer a fascinating glimpse into the town’s past and showcase the stories that make our community unique.

Dinner at the Mill Pub

My perfect day ends with dinner at The Old Mill Pub. With scenic views of the river and a delicious menu, it’s an ideal spot to reflect on the day and soak in the welcoming spirit of Skowhegan.

Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Skowhegan offers a delightful mix of great food, rich history, and scenic outdoor beauty. Our town encourages you to slow down, explore, and savor every moment.
